Teen Summer Employment
Paid summer jobs and career readiness training for youth young adults ages 14–24. The Teen Summer Employment program connects young people with meaningful work experiences, mentoring, and skills that prepare them for future careers.
About Our Teen Summer Employment Program
At Making Opportunity Count, our Teen Summer Employment program helps youth ages 14–24 gain valuable work experience while earning a paycheck. Participants are matched with local employers and receive ongoing support to build job skills, explore careers, and prepare for long-term success in the workforce.
In addition to employment, the program provides career readiness workshops, mentoring, and connections to resources that support both academic and personal growth. Teen Summer Employment is more than just a summer job—it’s an investment in young people’s futures.

Frequently Asked Questions
What types of job placements are there?
Placements vary depending on employer partners and may include roles in customer service, childcare, recreation, maintenance, office support, and more.
What are the schedules like?
Most youth work 20–25 hours per week during the summer. Schedules are coordinated with each employer site and may vary slightly by placement.
Do I have to do the trainings and workshops?
Yes. Career readiness workshops are required because they help participants build the skills needed to succeed on the job, including interviewing, financial literacy, and workplace professionalism.
Can I still go on vacation during the summer?
Yes, but you must communicate planned time off in advance. Time away should be coordinated with both your worksite and program staff to ensure a smooth experience.
How can I become a worksite?
Businesses and organizations can apply to host youth participants. Worksites provide supervision, mentoring, and meaningful job experiences. Contact us to learn how to get involved.
Do participants get paid?
Yes. All youth are paid through the program for their summer employment.
Our Impact
Last year, the Teen Summer Employment program placed 24 youth in summer jobs with local employers, helping young people earn income, build skills, and explore career pathways.
