Youth Innovation Center

A space to create, experiment, and be yourself. The Youth Innovation Center in Fitchburg, MA invites young people ages 14–24 to explore digital and hands-on art, build new skills, and connect with a community that celebrates creativity and self-expression. Whether you’re into design, media, music, or making things with your hands, this is a place to try something new, grow your talents, and feel confident showing up as who you are.

About Our Youth Innovation Center

The Youth Innovation Center at Making Opportunity Count is a space where young people can build skills, explore their interests, and connect with peers and mentors. Through creative, technology-based, and leadership opportunities, youth gain hands-on experience while also engaging in work that promotes safety, awareness, and positive choices in their community.

Peer Mentors provide approachable support with schoolwork, projects, one-on-one guidance, and social connection from relatable young adults who understand your journey.

Professional Mentors share real-world experience through workshops and one-on-one guidance, helping participants build skills, explore career paths, and plan for the future.

Traditional & Digital Art

We provide everything you need to unleash your creativity, from paints and brushes to digital art to canvases and clay and much more. Whether you’re an aspiring artist or just looking to express yourself, this is the perfect place for you.

Multimedia

We offer cutting-edge tools for podcasters, content creators, musicians, photographers, filmmakers, and beyond! Record, edit, and produce projects that reflect your unique vision.

Frequently Asked Questions

We offer an Art Room with a variety of supplies for creative projects, a Media Room equipped for podcasting, music, photography, positive youth development workshop opportunities, filmmaking, and access to Peer and Professional Mentors for guidance and skill-building.  

No, but you are more than welcome to bring your personal projects and utilize the supplies we have too! All materials and equipment are provided at the center. You just need to bring your creativity and ideas! 

Our Peer Mentors and Professional Mentors provide support and guidance through workshops, project assistance, and one-on-one sessions. They’re here to help with skill-building, career exploration, schoolwork, support and more. 

No, all our programs, resources, and mentorship opportunities are free for youth and young adult members. Our goal is to help prevent financial barriers for the youth and young adults to create and explore all forms of art and media to the best of our ability. 

You’re welcome to drop in anytime during our operating hours. For mentorship sessions or workshops, it’s best to check our schedule on our social media sites. 

Our Impact

100 registered youth took part in neighborhood-based afterschool enrichment programs that nurtured learning, creativity, and connection.
