Family Shelter
Safe, supportive emergency housing for families experiencing homelessness. Making Opportunity Count’s Family Shelter programs provide a secure place to stay along with case management, resources, and pathways to permanent housing.
About Family Shelter
At Making Opportunity Count, our Family Shelter programs provide emergency housing and comprehensive support for families who are experiencing homelessness.
Families are offered a safe place to live while our staff work closely with them to identify barriers, set goals, and create a pathway toward stable, permanent housing. In addition to shelter, families have access to case management, community resources, and wraparound services that address needs such as employment, childcare, and behavioral health.
Our Services
Family Shelter provides safe housing, case management, and wraparound supports to help families move from homelessness to stability.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do families enter the shelter program?
Families apply through EOHLC. If approved, EOHLC assigns placement based on availability; families may be placed at an M.O.C. shelter site, but it’s not guaranteed.
What supports are available while in shelter?
Families receive case management, referrals to health and behavioral health services, childcare resources, and help with employment and housing searches.
How long can families stay in shelter?
Length of stay depends on each family’s situation and EOHLC guidelines, but the goal is always to help families move into permanent housing in 6-9 Months.
Is there a cost to participate?
No. Shelter and case management services are provided at no cost to families.
What happens after shelter?
Our staff continue to work with families that are housed with M.O.C. with continued case management for up to 2 years.
Our Impact
Last year, MOC’s Family Shelter programs provided safe housing and support to over 1,400 parents and children, helping families move from crisis toward stability and permanent housing.
Location Information
